I was at Syros island when my friend from London called me and ask me to drive him and hes family, from Athens to Istanbul. I was wondering why they don’t want take the plane? 11hours and 45 minutes 1100 kilometers from Athens to Istanbul. The appointment was for Friday in 2 days we do not have time for games we have to prepare for this long drive trip.
We drive 1100 kilometers from Athens to Istanbul
I can’t hide my feelings, i was exciting. When you driving a long trip and you want to get fast there with no stops on the way, you better choose someone can drive with you. So i choose one of my best friends Panos professional Private Driver for more than 10 years.
We cross Thessaloniki, Kavala, Komotini , Alexandroupoli and we are at the final line crossing the line between Greece and Turkeys. After 1 hour on the boards we finally made it we are in Constantinoupolis (Instabul). Our first plan was to finish the Job and drive back home, but we want to see more so we find a nice hotel so we can rest and keep driving tomorrow.
We order the best food in town and we pay something like 10 euro we thought we are in Thailand or somewhere we can buy a house with 200 euro. We wake up the next morning and we only want to see the town and of course our historical church Agia Sofia. That was something we cant miss after all the way we drive here, we ready to explore the city and find where is the old Greek market.
When we finally visit Agia Sofia, we walked inside and everything they tell us on the history books it was so small front of what we felt from the first step inside this Historical temple. The Agia Sophia is an enormous architectural marvel in Istanbul, Turkey, that was originally built as a Christian basilica nearly 1,500 years ago. Agia Sophia is one of the oldest buldings in the world.
